Coffee Emporium has been a Cincinnati fixture since 1973. Now well established as Cincinnati’s oldest independent coffee house, it got its start as Coffee Tea & Spices in the basement of what is now Teller’s on Hyde Park Square.

Owners Tony Tausch and Eileen Schwab put down roots in Over-the-Rhine in 2001 with an inspired dedication to community, sustainability and quality. Their beans are purchased directly from the farmers themselves at above market prices (In fact, we had to come back to shoot later because they were visiting coffee growers in Guatemala). These lucky beans are then roasted on-site in their facility adjacent the OTR cafe. Their drinks are paired with an eclectic assortment of pastries and lunch items made only from local, fresh ingredients.

The Hyde Park location has been serving up the same great coffee since 1979 in a 102 year-old row house on Madison Avenue.
The Over-the-Rhine cafe is open seven days a week, and features a full vegetarian friendly menu on top of the myriad of caffeinated options.
